How Much Does a Website Cost in Nigeria in 2026?

Price the strategy, content, build and ownership—not just a number of pages.

A useful website price starts with scope

The cost of a website in Nigeria depends on what the business needs the site to accomplish, what material already exists and who is responsible after launch. Two proposals for “a ten-page website” can cover completely different work: one may place supplied copy into a template, while another includes research, positioning, original writing, conversion design, integrations, testing and post-launch support.

The planning ranges below are Nelium editorial estimates as at 14 July 2026, not fixed quotations or an industry tariff. Currency conditions, licences, infrastructure, supplier expertise and project risk can change them. Use the ranges to prepare questions, then request a written scope based on the actual organisation.

Indicative Nigerian website budget bands

Focused starter presence: ₦650,000–₦1,500,000

This can suit a small business with one clear service, supplied brand assets and a limited content requirement. A responsible scope may include discovery, a compact page set, responsive Elementor implementation, contact or enquiry path, foundational search setup, analytics and launch checks.

The lower end assumes fast decisions and usable material. Copywriting, photography, advanced forms, migrations, multilingual content or multiple stakeholder rounds move the work upward.

Conversion-led service website: ₦1,500,000–₦4,500,000

This band can support deeper customer research, information architecture, original service content, tailored layouts, case-study treatment, lead qualification, CRM or email connections, technical SEO foundations and structured quality assurance. It is the more relevant comparison for an established professional or B2B organisation expecting the site to generate demand.

Ecommerce or operational platform: ₦3,500,000–₦12,000,000+

An online store or integrated platform can require product structure, catalogue preparation, checkout, payment configuration, delivery rules, stock or order workflows, customer notifications, security controls and operational training. Custom integrations, complex catalogues, subscriptions or several markets can exceed this band.

Enterprise, multi-market or bespoke programme: scoped individually

Organisations with several business units, governance layers, languages, migrations, accessibility requirements or external systems need discovery before a reliable number exists. A premature fixed price usually hides assumptions that later become exclusions or change requests.

These estimates exclude VAT where applicable and should not be treated as a promise that every supplier includes the same deliverables.

What the build fee should contain

Ask each provider to separate discovery, content, experience design, development, integration, testing, launch and support. This reveals why prices differ and prevents a visually attractive quote from omitting the work that makes the website commercially useful.

Discovery should clarify audiences, offers, objectives, competitors, current evidence, required functionality and decision owners. Information architecture then turns those findings into navigation, page purpose and internal relationships.

Content work may include interviews, keyword and intent research, messaging, copywriting, fact review, calls to action, metadata, case studies and migration. Count content states and complexity, not pages alone. One detailed solution page can demand more work than several short contact pages.

Design should establish reusable typography, colour, spacing, buttons, cards, forms and responsive rules. Development should create maintainable templates and components rather than manually styling every instance. Quality assurance should cover devices, browsers, forms, links, search controls, accessibility basics, performance and analytics.

WordPress, Elementor and theme cost

WordPress itself is open-source software, but implementation and ownership still cost money. Hosting, domain, licences, design, content, configuration, security, backups and maintenance are separate considerations.

Elementor’s documentation describes Hello as a free, minimal WordPress theme designed for its editor. That can provide a lean foundation for an Elementor-based build, but a free theme does not mean a free website. The value sits in the strategy, design system, page implementation, content and operating controls added above it.

Confirm whether the proposal relies on free Elementor capabilities or a paid plan, which features require renewal and what happens when a licence expires. Avoid unnecessary add-on packs that create overlapping widgets and long-term update risk.

The right stack is the smallest maintained combination that satisfies the scope. It should remain editable by the client without turning every layout change into fragile custom code.

Content is often the hidden variable

A quote saying “client provides content” transfers substantial work to the buyer. Someone must still define the proposition, collect proof, resolve factual disagreements, select imagery, write service explanations and approve every page.

Ask how many interview hours, drafts and review rounds are included. Determine whether metadata, image descriptions, downloadable files and legal or policy pages are in scope. If the organisation has no internal writer, budget for professional content from the beginning.

For an existing site, specify what is retained, rewritten, redirected or removed. Migration includes more than copying text. URLs, metadata, internal links, media, forms, tracking, indexed value and conversion paths need preservation or intentional replacement.

Features that change the budget

Complexity grows with business rules. A basic contact form is different from conditional qualification, document upload, routing and CRM synchronisation. A small catalogue is different from variable products, delivery zones, inventory connections and recurring payments.

Common cost drivers include:

Request assumptions and acceptance criteria for each feature. “CRM integration” should identify the system, fields, triggers, error handling, test cases and responsible owner.

Budget for conversion, not decoration

A polished homepage is not enough. Every priority page should match a visitor’s decision stage, explain the offer clearly, provide credible evidence and present an appropriate next step.

Budget for calls to action, focused landing pages, usable forms, confirmation messages, campaign tracking and lead routing. Define who answers enquiries and how quickly. A form that sends unqualified records into an unattended inbox has little commercial value.

Measure qualified enquiries, meetings, opportunities, sales and service outcomes where relevant. Traffic and button clicks help diagnose behaviour, but they cannot prove return alone.

Include performance and mobile quality

Design the site for the devices and connections customers actually use. Compress images appropriately, control fonts and scripts, avoid unnecessary animation and build reusable layouts. Performance should be tested on production-like hosting rather than inferred from a theme’s marketing page.

Ask what is included for caching, image treatment, database maintenance and third-party scripts. A lightweight theme can still become slow when pages contain oversized media, duplicate add-ons and multiple trackers.

Test forms, menus, tap targets, headings, contrast, keyboard use and error messages. Accessibility and responsive behaviour are design requirements, not optional cleanup after launch.

Plan annual ownership costs

The launch invoice is only part of total cost. Prepare for domain renewal, hosting, premium licences, backups, security monitoring, updates, technical support, content changes and continuous improvement.

A modest brochure site may have lower operating needs than a revenue-critical store, but both require named responsibility. Ask whether maintenance includes tested updates, restore checks, uptime review, vulnerability response and a defined support window. “Monthly maintenance” without deliverables is not comparable.

Keep domain, hosting, analytics and business accounts under company control. Document administrative access and the handover package. The organisation should receive credentials, licence information, backups, design rules, integration notes and training appropriate to its responsibilities.

Apply Nigerian data governance

Website forms, analytics, customer accounts and marketing integrations may process personal data. Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023 applies within its scope. Review purpose, transparency, lawful processing, minimisation, security, retention, processor arrangements and data-subject handling with suitable professional input.

Define the information each form genuinely needs and state what happens after submission. Map data moving to email, CRM, payment, analytics and support providers. Privacy work may affect discovery, copy, configuration and legal review, so it should appear in the project scope rather than as a footer afterthought.

Compare proposals on the same basis

Give shortlisted suppliers one written brief and request deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, timeline, client responsibilities, review rounds, acceptance criteria, payment stages and post-launch support. Ask for relevant examples and what the team personally delivered.

Beware of a low headline price paired with generic copy, unlicensed assets, unclear ownership, weak security or no migration plan. Also question expensive proposals that cannot connect activities to customer and business outcomes.

Score proposals across strategic understanding, content, maintainability, conversion, technical quality, governance, support and total ownership cost. The best value is the solution that meets required outcomes with tolerable risk—not automatically the cheapest or most elaborate option.

Structure payment around accepted work

Agree payment stages that reflect meaningful project gates, such as discovery approval, design-system acceptance, completed implementation and launch handover. The exact percentages can vary, but both parties should understand what evidence unlocks each invoice.

Define how scope changes are requested, estimated and approved before extra work begins. Distinguish correction of an unmet requirement from a new feature or changed business decision. This reduces arguments near launch and keeps the original budget intelligible.

The client also has delivery obligations. Name who supplies content inputs, consolidates stakeholder feedback, approves legal statements and tests operational workflows. Delayed or contradictory decisions can increase cost even when the development task remains unchanged.

Retain a documented final balance for verified handover rather than holding the entire project hostage to minor preferences. Handover acceptance should cover production access, backups, documentation, licence status, training and resolution of agreed critical defects.

Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

Can I build a professional website with a free theme?

Yes. A maintained free theme such as Hello Elementor can provide a foundation, while professional strategy, content, design, implementation and testing remain paid work.

Why do quotes for the same page count differ so much?

Page count hides research, content depth, custom design, integrations, migration, review, testing and support. Compare written deliverables and assumptions.

Should hosting be included in the project fee?

Either model can work if the provider states the infrastructure, renewal, access, support and exit terms clearly. The business should retain appropriate ownership.

How can a company control redesign cost?

Prepare decision owners, usable evidence, content inputs and a prioritised scope. Resolve core requirements early and place optional features into later phases.
